The Board of Directors is critical to the success of the CEO and the organization. Strategic alignment, competency, and intellectual capital is needed from each member in order to address the hurdles every organization faces at the strategic and operational level.
We work with organizations to identify, assess, and recruit board members who bring the right combination of expertise, perspective, and commitment to drive your company forward. Our deep network in the MSK industry means we can identify candidates who understand your market and can contribute meaningfully from day one.

The right time to build your board is before you need it, not after. For early-stage companies, board construction should begin as soon as the company has a clear commercial thesis and is approaching a Series A or B raise. For PE-backed companies, the right board composition is often the first conversation an investor wants to have. The most common mistake is waiting until a specific crisis — a failed product launch, a missed revenue target, or a pending exit — before addressing board gaps.
The most in-demand board profiles in the musculoskeletal industry include former C-suite operators with direct MSK commercial experience, key opinion leaders and surgeons with clinical credibility in the target specialty, regulatory and reimbursement experts, M&A and capital markets advisors with medtech transaction history, and operating partners from PE or VC firms with relevant portfolio experience. The best boards combine strategic vision with operational credibility, and that balance is very specific to the company's stage and market position.
An independent director sits on the formal board of directors, carries fiduciary responsibility, participates in board votes, and typically receives equity compensation. An advisory board member provides strategic counsel without legal fiduciary obligation and is usually compensated with a small equity grant. For early-stage companies, advisory boards are a valuable and lower-commitment way to access senior industry relationships. For companies approaching a significant raise or exit, independent directors with formal governance experience are typically required by investors.
