Igniting Change:MSK Search Actively Supporting Campaign to increase the pipeline of female leaders in energy.

The statistics on women in senior and board level in the energy industry are shocking. Of the top 100 UK-headquartered energy companies (including oil and gas, power and renewables), 61% have no women on their board, and only 5% of executive board seats are held by women.

We may not know exactly what equality looks like. It’s certainly too simplistic to say that it has to be 50/50, but we can say, with complete confidence, that equality doesn’t look like this.

I was recently invited to, and attended, the Powerful Women in Energy meeting at the House of Commons at the end of January, where the topic was the lack of women in Senior/Board positions in the UK. The meeting concluded and we all resolved to ignite a change our sectors.

Our commitment to Ignite Change

MSK Search has given a commitment to actively support the initiative, and have partnered with Russam-gms the oldest established  provider of interim Senior Executives in London, so we can provide a wider selection of Non Executive Directors, Board Directors and Senior Executives on either an interim or permanent contract.

The Report in full

PwC have produced a comprehensive report looking at a number of data sources including interviews with over 40 senior figures in the energy industry. This has formed the basis of their analysis and subsequent recommendations for how we get from the rather depressing picture we see in the quantitative data, to the much more hopeful one painted by our interviewees. - Click here to go to the PwC website and access the data.
